Chapter 44

As Lobster was dragged from the arena, Junior piloted Firebird out the southern entrance and back to the team area. He assumed the spot under the tarp and powered the Beater down.
No one asked him anything. He issued no statement to the press, nor was there an outlet. The next match started and Junior did not return to the stands to watch it.
He was tired. He was disillusioned. He just wanted, badly, to go home.
He resolved to ask Trixie May and Dank to return to EcoHope 11 with him at the earliest opportunity.
He had given up on making a statement. No one wanted his opinion of the state of the world. He was an untrusted oddity. An off-worlder. A hick.
He wanted the next transport out as soon as he could get it.

The Benevolent States United ain't all it claims to be and everyone knows it. Government types stay in high-tech orbital space stations while the people, the "Faithful" labor constantly in the elements just to survive.
The hoard the wealth and supplies and dole it out little by little, just enough to keep the workers alive without making them strong enough to fight back.
It ain't right. They know it. And you know it. And I said it.
A bunch of us are leaving. Transport locations are listed at the end of this entry.

For real,

Dank
